Writing tips
Let the capital M establish the rhythm, then keep rr and ry open enough to read. Leave a clear space before Christmas, give the capital C room to curve, and keep the st and mas joins light rather than crowded. For focused letter practice, see capital M and capital C.
Compare these groups with the full greeting above. Connections vary by style; a pen lift after a capital can be natural. Decorative styles are best used as lettering references.
Card guide
A handwritten Christmas card only needs three short parts: a greeting with the person’s name, one wish that fits them, and a warm sign-off. Write the cards a little early; most people start in the first week of December so cards arrive before the holidays.
Not sure what saying to put inside a Christmas card? Short Christmas card messages work best: “Merry and bright,” “Peace, love and joy,” or one of the quotes below. For coworkers and clients, “Happy holidays” or “Season’s greetings” keeps the card inclusive, and a thank-you for the year makes it personal. Use a flowing style such as Allura or Parisienne for the greeting and an easy-to-read style such as Dancing Script for the longer wish.

FAQ
Yes. Every card above downloads as a PNG image, with its coloured background or transparent. Send it as a Merry Christmas picture, post it online, or drop it into Canva, Google Docs, or Word to make your own card. Each card is 2,400 pixels wide, which prints sharply up to about 8 inches across.
Type the name or a short line such as “Merry Christmas, Leo” in the box above, check it in the On a gift tag preview, and download the transparent PNG. Size it to about 2 inches wide on a tag template, print on cardstock, punch a hole, and tie it on with ribbon.
Choose the transparent PNG when the lettering goes on top of something else: a family photo, red or green paper, kraft gift tags, or a print-then-cut project. Choose the PNG with background when you want the finished card exactly as shown.
Choose Printable practice in the preview above, pick portrait or landscape, then print or save the sheet as a PDF from the print dialog. Each line of your message prints first as a grey row to trace, then as blank rows to write on your own. Trace the greeting two or three times, write it on the blank rows, and only then move to the card.
A fine felt-tip or gel pen around 0.5 mm suits the message inside; for a large Merry Christmas headline, a brush pen or a fine-tip marker gives the thick and thin strokes cursive is known for. Test the pen on the back of the card or the envelope first: glossy and coated cards can smear, so give the ink a minute to dry. A gold or white gel pen stands out on dark red and green cards.
